Abstract: This paper takes the classic song "Do Re Mi" from The Sound of Music as an example to explore the application of John W. Berry's (1997) cultural adaptation strategies in cross-cultural music education, analyzing the importance of emotional resonance and cultural identity in teaching practice. The study aims to enhance students' understanding, identification, and innovative abilities regarding foreign cultures by integrating four cultural adaptation strategies: integration, assimilation, separation, and marginalization. The integration strategy helps students appreciate foreign cultural music while maintaining a love for their native culture; the assimilation strategy utilizes modern technology such as artificial intelligence to promote new learning methods; the separation strategy encourages students to uphold cultural confidence, while the marginalization strategy reminds teachers to reflect on and resolve cultural conflicts. By implementing these teaching strategies, students can achieve emotional resonance and cultural identity during the learning process, thereby better understanding and experiencing foreign music, and integrating it with their native culture through creative practice, enhancing cultural confidence. This paper provides a theoretical framework and practical guidance for cross-cultural music education, holding significant educational significance and application value.
